Orthopedic RN

Assignment Overview

• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 36 hours per week
• Unit: Orthopedic (6 Ortho), 43 beds, all private rooms
• Patient ratio: 1:4-5 on 12-hour days and 1:5-6 on 12-hour nights
• Patient mix: Medical-surgical, postoperative orthopedic, and trauma cases with fractures
• Weekends: Alternating. Every other weekend is a day shift on Saturday/Sunday, or a night shift on Friday/Saturday.
• Call or standby: None
• Floating: Travel RNs are first to float when needed, which happens occasionally, to other medical-surgical floors.

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license, or confirmation that the license application has been initiated
• BLS certification (AHA)
• Experience in postoperative surgical care and general medical-surgical care

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-2 years of clinical experience

Staffing and Support

• Primary charge RN on each shift; house supervisor available 24/7
• Patient care technicians at a ratio of 1:7-8
• CPAP and heated high flow equipment available as needed
• House-wide telemetry packs with Philips monitors

Policies and Orientation

• Call-off policy: 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty
• Orientation: 12 non-billable hours, during which guaranteed hours do not apply
• Two unit/department orientations
• Drug-free campus; a negative drug screen for all panels is required
• Scrubs: any color; adult professional appearance required; tattoos and piercings must be covered
