Travel RN - Med/Surg (Adult) - Flex Shift

Location: St Johnsbury, Vermont (Northeast Kingdom) Employment Type: Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Hours per Week: 36 Shift: Flex day/night rotation, 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM). Assignments are blocked by week, so nurses work either days or nights for the entire week.

Facility Overview

• 25-bed independent critical access hospital
• Nonprofit, serving Vermont's Northeast Kingdom
• Provides primary and preventive care, surgical and specialty services, inpatient and outpatient care, observation, swing bed, and 24-hour physician-staffed emergency services

Role Details

• Primarily adult Med/Surg patients with occasional pediatric admissions; this is not a dedicated pediatric unit
• Pediatric-only RNs will not be considered
• Scheduled to fill staffing gaps based on operational needs
• May be asked to serve as Charge RN or Preceptor
• Broad scope of practice across medical, surgical, observation, swing bed, outpatient, and occasional pediatric care

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Vermont
• Minimum of 3 years of Med Surg experience
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Schedule and Onboarding

• Travelers start on Wednesdays.
• During orientation week, travelers on a 48-hour contract are guaranteed 36 hours due to the midweek start.
• All required credentials must be uploaded at least five business days before the start date.

Logistics

• Housing is not provided. Travelers are responsible for securing their own housing before arrival, though the facility can share local housing resources.
• The area is rural with no public transportation, taxis, or ride-share options.
• The nearest major airport is approximately two hours away.
