Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our medical surgical unit. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, demonstrate professionalism, and have the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in an acute care setting.
- Monitor patient conditions and administer medications as prescribed.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Assist with management of complex medical cases.
- Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic medical record system (EMR) - experience with Meditech is preferred.
- Participate in patient and family education initiatives.
Shift Details
Shift hours are from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with a commitment to work every other weekend. A blend of day and night shifts may be required based on unit needs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, including at least one travel assignment.
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Strict adherence to patient safety and quality care standards.
Unit Information
- 44 patient beds with a staff of 40.
- Patient-to-nurse ratios of 1:5, possibly 1:6.
- Nurse aides available for support, typically a ratio of 1:8 or 1:10.
- General orientation lasts 1 week, followed by 2 days of floor-specific orientation.
- Floating required to other acute care and cardio units as necessary.
Additional Information
This position may require working on holidays and participation in specific unit initiatives. The unit utilizes Caribbean Blue scrub colors. Orientation includes comprehensive training on EMR systems.
