Overview

This position involves performing diagnostic echocardiograms on both adult and pediatric patients. The Echo Sonographer plays a crucial role in patient care by conducting various cardiac exams and collaborating with healthcare professionals.

Shift Details

Shift: Days, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM

Work Schedule: 4 Days - 10 Hours

Weekend Requirement: Yes

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct technically proficient 2D, M-mode, and Doppler cardiac exams.
• Coordinate activities across various hospital departments, including scheduling exams, patient transport, and accurate billing information entry.
• Assist the cardiologist in dictating exams by preparing and measuring M-modes and providing pertinent information for diagnosis.
• Facilitate timely delivery and distribution of dictations.
• Address patients' needs during exams and report any changes in patient conditions to the physician or nurse in charge.
• Order echo supplies and maintain cleanliness and organization of the examination rooms.
• Log patients, exams, and file patient records in the department.
• Engage in Performance Improvement activities at various departmental and hospital levels.
• Participate in on-call coverage for emergency echocardiograms as per departmental policy.
• Ensure quality control of equipment operation and quality of examinations performed; coordinate any necessary repair services.
• Stay current with advancements in the field of echocardiography and seek mentorship from cardiologists to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Assist with other cardiac procedures as required.

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a two-year allied health education program related to patient care preferred.

Certification/Licenses

• A.R.D.M.S./CCI registration or registry eligibility or comparable national accreditation is required.
• State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License.
• BLS certification issued through the American Heart Association.

Experience
