Qualifications
- Education: Masters Degree from an accredited physical therapy program
- Experience: Experience working directly with patients in a long-term care or hospital setting
- Licenses/Certifications/Registrations: Current Physical Therapist state license; Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required

Position Summary
A Physical Therapist plans and executes rehabilitation programs to assist patients in returning to a higher level of physical function following an accident or surgery. They also work to manage or alleviate pain associated with degenerative conditions or terminal diseases. Through a combination of physical activity, reflexology, massage, and manipulation of the muscular and skeletal systems, Physical Therapists facilitate healing. The role includes collaboration with other therapists to achieve optimal patient outcomes, with an emphasis on outpatient services.
Key Responsibilities
- Consult with patients to gather information on physical conditions, symptoms, and medical history.
- Diagnose movement dysfunction by observing patients' movements and listening to their concerns.
- Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Coach patients in therapeutic exercises and stretches aimed at improving their physical conditions.
- Utilize hands-on therapy techniques to alleviate pain and promote healing.
- Maintain detailed records of patient conditions, care plans, therapies, and progress.
- Report patient progress and current status to the healthcare team, including family members and providers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Professional Communication
- Maintain confidentiality regarding patient, family, and staff matters.
- Interact effectively with patients and families from diverse developmental and sociocultural backgrounds.
- Provide information to patients and families to reduce anxiety and promote an atmosphere of acceptance and care.
- Communicate professionally with other members of the healthcare team and relevant agencies.
- Initiate discussions with peers and supervisors about clinical priorities and concerns.
- Use appropriate communication devices to relay information.
Teamwork
- Accept assignments based on priority and unit needs.
- Collaborate closely with other care providers to complete tasks and provide clinical assistance.
- Report on patient conditions to necessary team members, including physicians and nurses.
- Engage in problem-solving and conflict resolution to foster effective working relationships.
- Punctually attend work as scheduled.
Professional Development
- Participate in in-service training, continuing education, and departmental meetings.
- Contribute to peer performance reviews as requested.
- Respond proactively to opportunities for improving patient care and customer service.
Shift Information
Shifts are typically 8 or 9 hours in duration, across 4 working days per week. Holiday coverage may be required.
Experience Requirements
Minimum of less than 1 year of experience working in a related role.
