Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse with experience in Cardiac Telemetry to provide high-quality care to patients with various cardiac conditions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate clinical proficiency, strong critical thinking skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients on cardiac telemetry, assessing vital signs and performance.
• Provide care for patients experiencing arrhythmias, heart failure, and other cardiac conditions.
• Administer medications including cardiac drips, ensuring proper management and titration as needed.
• Conduct sheath removal, handle chest tubes, and manage non-invasive airway devices.
• Participate in post-procedure care for patients following cardiac cath, electrophysiology, and various cardiac surgeries.
• Document patient care accurately using electronic health record systems (EPIC) and communicate effectively using SBAR.
• Cooperate in unit rotations and adhere to department protocols during high-demand situations.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor required. Traveler experience preferred unless candidate has over 24 months of cardiac experience.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required.
• Preferred Skills: Experience in arterial line management, wound care/wound vac, and charge nurse responsibilities.
• Knowledge of: Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, post-myocardial infarction care, and cardiac procedures such as CABG, TAVR, and pacemaker placements.

Work Environment

The nurse will work in a fast-paced environment with varying patient ratios based on acuity, typically 1:4 for surgical step down and 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients. The position is primarily night shifts, with a requirement to float as needed and work weekends flexibly.

Unit Orientation

A comprehensive orientation program of 24 hours will be provided to ensure familiarity with protocols and clinical equipment.

Special Procedures and Equipment

• Procedures: CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, and other cardiac and thoracic surgical interventions.
• Equipment: Arterial lines, EKG machines, chest tubes, and various monitoring devices.

Additional Information

Staff may be assigned to emergency response teams during catastrophic events or disasters. Candidates should be prepared to work in dynamic, high-stress situations.

Interview Process

All candidates will undergo an interview process, and EKG testing must be passed prior to employment.
