Job Summary

The Operating Room Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, directing, evaluating, and delivering safe and appropriate care to patients in the Operating Room. The role encompasses a wide range of nursing duties and responsibilities to ensure optimal patient outcomes during surgical procedures.

Education & Training Requirements

• Active New Mexico or multi-state RN License
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred

Work Experience Requirements

• Minimum of one year of previous experience in Operating Room (OR), Pre-Operative (Pre-OP), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), or related nursing fields preferred

Key Responsibilities

The Operating Room Registered Nurse will be expected to:

• Conduct thorough assessments of patients prior to surgical procedures
• Develop and implement individualized care plans
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and comfort
• Monitor patients during surgery and respond to any changes in condition
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding pre-operative and post-operative care
• Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control protocols

Strong organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills are essential for the position. The ability to work effectively under pressure and within a team environment is also crucial.
