Position Summary:
The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures on patients using specialized equipment. This role requires the administration of contrast materials as necessary, along with other assigned functions that ensure high-quality imaging and patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation: Prepare the scan room and ensure the patient is ready for examination.
- Patient Interaction: Interview and screen patients for contraindications, explain the MRI procedure, and answer any questions they may have.
- Contrast Administration: Draw up IV contrast if needed and administer oral contrast as indicated.
- Scanning Procedures: Transport patients into the exam room, assist in positioning for the exam, and perform scans with attention to detail.
- Image Processing: Ensure proper marking and ordering of images, entering them accurately with a keypad.
- Documentation: Prepare clinical records for the radiologist, ensuring all information is complete and in the correct order.
Work Environment:
This position involves working five 8-hour shifts each week, with a guaranteed 40 hours. The MRI Technologist will also be required to work one weekend per month from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. There are no on-call requirements for this position.
Qualifications:
- Experience with MRI technology is required.
- Experience with Siemens MRI equipment is required.
- Current active MRI certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
