Shift Information
The position requires night shifts, specifically from 7 PM to 7:30 AM on Thursdays and from 9:00 PM to 9:30 AM on Saturdays and Sundays.
Minimum Years of Experience
2.0 years of relevant experience required.
Certifications and Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification in Obstetrics/Gynecology (OB/Gyn)
Position Summary
The Acute Care Sonographer II delivers health care services in ultrasound to facilitate diagnosis or treatment. This role involves performing ultrasound procedures and related techniques, generating images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. The Sonographer predominantly operates independently in a complex acute care inpatient environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Required
- ARDMS certification in at least one category (OB/Gyn or Abdomen/Small Parts).
- ARDMS certification in one advanced category (Fetal Echocardiography, Breast, Pediatrics, Registered Vascular Technology, or Musculoskeletal) or ten years of experience in advanced practice with a commitment to obtaining an advanced registry.
- American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Two years of post-graduation experience in advanced ultrasound practice with active registration status.
Preferred
- Five years of post-graduation experience in advanced ultrasound practice with active registration status.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform ultrasound exams and procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Assist physicians and other medical staff during exams and procedures.
- Document all information required for proper interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams.
- Conduct ancillary duties to maintain proper distribution, billing, and archival of exams and procedures.
- Retrieve and review previous studies, reports, and orders to ensure timely performance and reporting of ultrasounds.
- Engage in the implementation, monitoring, and enhancement of organizational quality indicators as described in the strategic plan.

Schedule Requirements
Regular and sustained attendance is required. This position may involve working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.

- Exposures: Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, and various chemicals.
