Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our MedSurg/Telemetry unit. This position is focused on providing high-quality care to patients primarily with neurological conditions including stroke and possible neurosurgery patients. The nurse will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Shift Details
- Schedule: 3x12-Hour Day Shifts (06:45 - 19:15)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to other MedSurg/Telemetry areas as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a MedSurg setting
- Prior travel experience required (minimum of 2 successful contracts)
- Certifications: BCLS, NIH, NIHSS are mandatory; ACLS preferred
Required Skills
- IV Start and Telemetry skills
- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
- Experience in Med/Surg neuro care
Patient Care Focus
Patients will primarily include those experiencing:
- Strokes
- Neurosurgery-related conditions
- Epilepsy
- Traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas
Unit Details
- Daily census of 42 patients
- Unit features a 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)
Operational Standards
- Unit systems include PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR
- 36 hours of orientation for new staff
- Scrubs required: Navy
Additional Information
Travelers are expected to adhere to the policies regarding time off and making up missed shifts. Healthy teamwork and commitment to patient care are essential to succeed in this role.
