Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse with experience in MedSurg and Telemetry for an exciting opportunity. This position will focus on providing high-quality care to a variety of patients, primarily within the neuroscience specialty.
Shift Details
- Schedule: Day shifts, 3x12 hours (06:45 - 19:15)
- Floating to other MedSurg/Telemetry areas is required, including potential COVID care units.
- Every other weekend is mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage telemetry patients, including interpretation of dysrhythmias.
- Provide care for a diverse range of neuro diagnoses, including stroke, epilepsy, and subdural hematomas.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring safe and effective care delivery.
- Participate actively in patient care planning and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Document and communicate patient progress and any changes in condition effectively using SBAR.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year of direct MedSurg experience.
- Prior traveler experience with a minimum of 2 successful contracts is required; first-time travelers will not be accepted.
- Current certifications: BCLS, NIH, NIHSS. ACLS is preferred but not required.
- Must have strong skills in IV placement and telemetry management.
- EKG testing must be passed prior to beginning the assignment.
Patient Demographics
The unit supports a daily census of 42 patients and specializes in the care of:
- Stroke patients
- Neurosurgery patients
- Other neuro-related conditions
Additional Information
- A total of 36 hours of orientation will be provided.
- Scrubs are required in navy color.
- RTO after booking is not allowed; additional call-offs may result in cancellations.
