Unit Information
The Inpatient Oncology unit is a 28-bed acute care unit specializing in hematology and oncology, in addition to a 15-bed intermediate care Stem Cell Transplant Unit. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4.
Shift Information
- Night shift: 4x12 hours (19:00 - 07:00)
- Available hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Every other weekend and holiday required
Role Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the oncology unit, including:
- Administering chemotherapy and immunotherapy as per protocols
- Monitoring patient progress and adjusting care plans as needed
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintaining accurate patient records and adhering to care standards
Qualifications
- Current nursing license in Virginia (pending applications accepted)
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification required, or pending certification with completion prior to start date
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Experience with Epic EMR system is mandatory
- Must adhere to floating policy as needed
Additional Information
Time off requests will be approved for a maximum of 40 hours during the contract period. Depending on experience levels, the hiring manager may require completion of additional training or certification related to oncology nursing.
