We are seeking a skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The ideal candidate must have a minimum of two years of experience in critical care and perioperative settings, with a strong background in PreOperative processes and EPIC electronic health records.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients post-surgery, ensuring their comfort and recovery as they transition from anesthesia. The RN will utilize critical thinking and clinical judgment to assess patient needs, implement care plans, and address complex healthcare situations. This role requires a proactive approach to patient education and emotional support for patients and their families.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Administer medications and treatments following established protocols; monitor patients for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given accurately and in a timely manner.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers, identifying issues and available resources.
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers to efficiently manage clinical situations.
• Meet competency expectations as described by applicable organizational standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care and perioperative nursing.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (AHA only).
• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Texas or compact state.
• Completion of New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire, followed by preceptorship with a trained staff member.
• Annual competency verification requirements must be completed.

Work Schedule

This position requires five days of work per week, with eight-hour shifts. A flexible schedule of four 10-hour days can be accommodated.

Candidates with experience in general, orthopedic, urology, ENT, cath lab, endoscopy, gynecology, and pediatrics are encouraged to apply. Note that this role does not involve neuro or cardiology patients.
