Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mother-Baby/Postpartum Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to postpartum and low-risk antepartum patients in a supportive environment. This position requires a minimum of one year of Mother-Baby/Postpartum experience alongside at least two years as a Registered Nurse.
Patient Care Responsibilities:
- Provide independent care for 3-4 couplets, including thorough assessments and reassessments for both mothers and infants.
- Administer vaccinations to neonates and perform fundal checks on postpartum patients.
- Assist with breastfeeding support and provide discharge teaching to patients.
- Manage newborn care including vital signs, thermoregulation, and addressing conditions such as hypoglycemia and bilirubin levels.
- Provide care for Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) babies and conduct newborn lab and phlebotomy procedures.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a current BLS and NRP certification; EFM certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with postpartum and antepartum patients in a clinical setting.
- Familiarity with IV skills, including adult IV management, is preferred.
- Experience with PKU testing is appreciated.
Support and Resources:
- Reception and Health Unit Coordinator coverage available 7 days a week.
- Charge nurse support to maintain a lower patient ratio.
- Lactation nurses on site daily for additional support.
- 24/7 access to Respiratory Therapy and Anesthesia services.
- Clinical Nursing Assistant and Nurse Managers available to assist on both day and night shifts.
Technology and Equipment:
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical records is preferred.
- Familiarity with Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing systems.
Scheduling and Orientation:
- Weekend rotation required, typically every other or every third weekend.
- Orientation includes 3 shifts with preceptors and additional shifts for night orientation.
- Scheduling cycle is 6 weeks, with schedules released 2 weeks in advance.
- Holiday schedule includes a requirement for at least one winter holiday and one summer holiday.
