Clinical Nurse

Job Summary

Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Essential Duties

  • Education:
    • Participates in identifying and addressing personal learning needs.
    • Attends education programs based on identified learning needs.
    • Utilizes relevant patient education materials appropriate for the patient population.
    • Assesses the readiness to learn of patients, families, and caregivers.
    • Evaluates the developmental levels of patients and factors affecting their ability to learn.
  • Evaluation of Care:
    • Identifies expected patient outcomes.
    • Seeks guidance as required in revising the plan of care.
    • Participates in discussions with the interdisciplinary team to evaluate patient care.
    • Communicates relevant information to ensure continuity of care.
  • Implementation:
    • Demonstrates competence in managing patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.
    • Performs bedside point of care testing as necessary for patient care plans.
    • Adheres to healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in delivering care.
    • Organizes and prioritizes care based on patient and family needs.
    • Consults appropriate resources in a timely manner regarding complex care issues or unusual teaching needs.
  • Leadership:
    • Works towards developing goals to enhance professional growth.
    • Aims to achieve goals and objectives within designated time frames, or renegotiates with supervisors as necessary.
    • Understands activities that promote collaboration within and between departments.
    • Participates in the development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities.
    • Effectively utilizes communication systems.
    • Contributes to the promotion of cost-effective care.
    • Provides constructive feedback to coworkers.
    • Stays informed about public policy and regulatory guidelines impacting the healthcare environment.
    • Promotes a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
  • Patient Assessment:
    • Recognizes data from complex situations to prioritize care effectively.
    • Includes appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs in assessments.
    • Synthesizes assessment data into a coherent summary prior to communicating with others.
    • Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families.
    • Develops relationships with families to encourage advocacy for the patient and their needs.
  • Planning:
    • Collaborates with patients and families to prepare or update the plan of care.
    • Makes use of available multidisciplinary resources in planning care.
    • Begins using full-range communication to convey planning details.
    • Identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic considerations in patient care planning.
    • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks effectively for patients with complex needs.
  • Research:
    • Reads relevant journals that contain studies or articles applicable to practice.
    • Brings innovative ideas and questions to staff discussions for evaluation of applicability.

Required Skills & Experience

  • One (1) year of nursing experience.

Required Education

  • Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.

Preferred Education

  • BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.

Required Certifications & Licensure

Wellspring Nurse Source Job ID #38060230. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 48.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined. Posted job title: RN PCU/Stepdown
