Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will collaborate with inter-professional colleagues to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for a diverse range of adult medical and surgical patients, including those experiencing behavioral disturbances.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge, utilizing appropriate age and population-specific standards.
- Provide care to patients in a 32-bed inpatient medical-specialty unit.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and execute patient care plans.
- Utilize various medical equipment and technology, including EMR-Epic, telemetry, and monitoring systems.
- Float to all medical-surgical units as needed, with the possibility of working at multiple locations within the region.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting (250+ beds).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Experience in a Level 1 trauma environment required.
- Epic experience is preferred.
- Ability to float to various medical-surgical units based on departmental needs.
Work Schedule
This position offers 12-hour shifts on a day/night rotation with a requirement to work every other weekend and holiday. While there are opportunities for self-scheduling, please note that modifications may be necessary to ensure proper unit balance.
Patient Care Characteristics
- Patient-to-nurse ratio is approximately 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights.
- All patient rooms are private, equipped with essential mobility aids including gait belts and walkers.
- Care encompasses a wide variety of medical and surgical cases, with some behavioral health admissions.
Professional Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in North Dakota or compact state licensure required.
- A minimum of 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience in a busy hospital environment is preferred.
Uniform Requirements
All nursing staff are required to wear navy blue scrubs while on duty.
Additional Information
All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility. This position requires adaptability to changing unit needs and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
