As a Clinical Nurse, you will provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting. You will report to and be accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director and be responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process.

Essential Duties

• Education:
  • Participate in identifying and meeting personal learning needs.
  • Attend educational programs based on identified learning needs.
  • Assess patient/family/caregivers' readiness to learn and developmental levels affecting their ability to learn.
  • Utilize patient education materials relevant to the patient population.
• Evaluation of Care:
  • Identify expected patient outcomes and revise care plans as needed with guidance.
  • Engage in discussions with the interdisciplinary team for effective evaluation of patient care.
  • Communicate pertinent information to enhance continuity of care.
• Implementation:
  • Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex medical issues.
  • Perform bedside point of care testing as required for patient care plans.
  • Adhere to healthcare organization and nursing standards in the delivery of care.
  • Organize and prioritize care based on patient and family needs.
  • Consult timely with appropriate resources regarding complex care issues.
• Leadership:
  • Develop goals to promote professional growth and address limitations.
  • Achieve unit goals and participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Utilize communication systems effectively and participate in promoting cost-effective care.
  • Provide constructive feedback to colleagues and be aware of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare.
• Patient Assessment:
  • Recognize and synthesize data from complex situations to determine care priorities.
  • Assess and anticipate discharge needs for patients and families.
  • Develop relationships with families to empower them in advocating for their needs.
• Planning:
  • Collaborate with patients and families to prepare or update plans of care.
  • Utilize multidisciplinary resources effectively in care planning.
  • Identify and address cultural and ethnic issues during the planning process.
  • Demonstrate task prioritization for patients with complex needs.
• Research:
  • Engage in reading relevant journals and articles applicable to nursing practice.
  • Bring ideas and questions to team discussions for assessment of applicability.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience.

Education

• Required: Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited nursing school.
• Preferred: BSN or MSN from an accredited nursing school.

Certifications & Licensure

• Required: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
• Preferred: None.

Shift Details

This position requires a shift from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
