Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) practices independently in a clinical setting, demonstrating comprehensive awareness of relevant aspects of patient care. This role involves providing both routine and complex care while focusing on long-term goals and plans. The RN continues to enhance their skills to effectively manage clinical contingencies and is responsible for appropriate delegation to other care providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of the applicable competencies related to self-leadership, leadership of others, or leadership of leaders.
• Delivers nursing care in alignment with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, employing the nursing process which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Adds value by addressing the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families according to professional practice standards.
• Administers medications and treatments according to established protocols, while monitoring their effectiveness and managing any side effects.
• Document patient histories, symptoms, medications, and all care provided, ensuring thorough and accurate records.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers, identifying potential issues and available resources.

Job Requirements

Education/Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• BLS certification via AHA required.
• ACLS certification via AHA required.
• Current RN License in the state of employment or compact.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position requiring 5 days of work at 8 hours each day. Weekend on-call shifts are also a component of this role, along with night on-call assignments during the week. Floating to other departments within Surgical Services may be required.
