Description
We are seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide pulmonary care to patients across all age groups, including critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients. This role operates under the direction of a physician and requires minimal supervision. The therapist will be responsible for patient assessments and developing respiratory care plans, as well as performing a variety of technical and diagnostic procedures in different areas of the healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
- Meet the expectations of the applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Participate in emergency response situations, including Code Blue and Code White.
- Manage airway procedures, including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning.
- Administer aerosolized medications and manage ventilators, including setup and operation.
- Provide oral hygiene and maintain airway supporting devices such as BiPAP and CPAP.
- Deliver oxygen therapy and monitor treatment effectiveness.
- Analyze chest films and collect and assess blood gas samples.
- Conduct EKG analysis and ensure accurate documentation of patient care.
- Maintain equipment and supplies by performing cleaning and stocking duties as necessary.
- Contribute to CAP and JC surveys.
- Assist as Shift Leader or Team Leader as needed.
- Utilize advanced practice skills, which may include therapeutic gas management, pulmonary function testing, and assist during bronchoscopy procedures.
- Perform hemodynamic monitoring, waveform analysis, and nocturnal SpO2 evaluations.
- Conduct polysomnography and assist with patient transport duties.
Job Requirements:
Education and Skills
- Possess valid RT or RCP License in the state of Texas.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications are required.
Experience
- 1 to 3 years of respiratory therapy experience is preferred.
Work Schedule:
Days from 6:45 AM to 7:00 PM.
