Job Position Details
The Respiratory Therapist will perform a variety of critical care functions, including the management and administration of airway devices and suctioning procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Airway Management Devices and Suctioning: Endotracheal tube management, extubation procedures, nasal airway placement, and oral airway management.
- Pulmonary Hygiene: Conducting sputum specimen collections, tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation.
- Device Operation: Proficient use of ventilators such as Draeger V500 and Servo U, as well as troubleshooting related equipment complications.
- Aerosol Therapy: Administering various medications through nebulizers, including but not limited to Albuterol, Atrovent, and Pulmicort.
- Support in High-Risk Deliveries: Assisting with umbilical blood gas procedures and other critical interventions as necessary.
Shift Information
- Shift: 4x12 Nights (18:30 - 07:00)
- Every other weekend required; holiday coverage expected.
- Float between Adult and NICU required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an RRT in Adult Critical Care; NICU experience is preferred.
- Completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment.
- Current BLS certification.
- CRT certification required.
- Must possess MD State licensure.
- ED experience and ACLS certification preferred.
Required Skills
The following skills are essential for success in this position:
- Demonstrated ability to manage Airway Management Devices and Suctioning.
- Experience with aerosol medications and administration protocols.
- Comfortable performing and analyzing arterial blood gases (ABGs).
- Knowledge of Cerner for charting and patient management.
Special Equipment Competence
- Ventilators: Draeger V500, Servo U
- Other devices: High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), BiPAP, CPAP
