Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide exceptional pulmonary care for critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients. This position requires working under the direction of a physician with minimal supervision. The therapist will perform patient assessments and develop respiratory care plans while executing various technical and diagnostic procedures throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet the expectations of applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Respond to emergency situations (Code Blue and White).
- Manage airways, including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning.
- Deliver aerosolized medications effectively.
- Set up and operate ventilators.
- Provide oral hygiene for patients.
- Place and maintain airway retaining devices.
- Manage airway support devices such as BiPAP and CPAP.
- Utilize oxygen delivery devices and conduct therapeutic monitoring.
- Analyze chest films, blood gases, and EKGs.
- Ensure accurate and complete documentation of patient care.
- Clean and stock equipment and supplies as necessary.
- Participate in CAP and JC surveys.
- May function as Shift Leader or Team Leader as required.
Advanced Practice Skills
- Therapeutic gas management and monitoring, including INO and HeO2.
- Conduct pulmonary function testing.
- Assist with bronchoscopy procedures.
- Perform hemodynamic monitoring and waveform analysis.
- Evaluate nocturnal SpO2 (Desaturation Studies).
- Conduct polysomnography assessments.
- Fulfill transport duties as needed.
Job Requirements
Education & Skills
Licensure and certification requirements apply.
Experience
1 to 3 years of experience preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
- RT or RCP License in the state of TX required.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by NBRC required.
- BLS certification required (AHA only).
- ACLS certification required (AHA only).
- PALS certification required (AHA only).
- NRP certification required.
Work Schedule
This position operates on a full-time basis, with scheduled hours from 6:45 PM to 7:00 AM.
