Shift Information
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a lunch break from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Flexibility of work hours may occur. Saturday shifts are required; no exceptions will be made.
Experience Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field.
Certifications/Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
Job Summary
The Rehabilitation Services department offers comprehensive services, including occupational, physical, and speech therapies. The Occupational Therapy (OT) segment specifically focuses on evaluating and treating individuals with injuries, disabilities, or emotional challenges to enhance, maintain, or restore their functional capabilities. Services provided encompass group therapy, recreational programs, vocational therapy, creative arts, essential life skills training, and muscle retraining.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Management of Patient Care (75%)
- Conducts assessments and evaluations of patient functionality, collecting objective measurements and utilizing outcome measures in relevant areas such as Activities of Daily Living (ADL), range of motion (ROM), strength, and function.
- Provides direct patient treatment based on a developed occupational therapy plan of care under physician referral, ensuring restoration or maintenance of function.
- Acts as a consultant for activity programs, guiding activities coordinators and recreation aides in planning therapeutic activities.
- Ensures safe, efficient, and economical care while adhering to departmental policies and procedures.
- Instructs patients and staff on occupational therapy recommendations while offering consultative services.
- Documents all services rendered and maintains accurate treatment records.
- Communicates effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary team members.
- Coordinates discharge follow-ups with relevant community agencies as needed.
- Employs principles of pain management and growth and development to provide age and culturally appropriate care.
- Participates in care delivery, ensuring quality standards are met and contributing to patient care policy formulation.
- May act as a patient advocate when appropriate.
- Demonstrates clinical expertise within specialty areas.
Departmental and Administrative Responsibilities (10%)
- Assists in planning and coordinating occupational therapy programs, providing administrative oversight.
- Develops strategies for resource allocation to meet departmental objectives.
- Implements quality improvement initiatives and evaluates patient care-related complaints and issues.
- Participates in budget development and monitors departmental expenditures.
- Ensures adherence to safety and infection control standards.
- Maintains departmental records and engages in community relations.
Human Relations and Personal Development (5%)
- Organizes workload effectively to address acute needs.
- Promotes teamwork and collaborates with patients, staff, and the community.
Training/Education/Competency (5%)
- Engages in ongoing education and training to enhance clinical skills.
- Conducts training sessions for staff on occupational therapy practices.
Other Duties (5%)
- Ensures compliance with HIPAA regulations and upholds patient confidentiality.
- Participates in staff recruitment and performs other related duties as assigned.
Additional Information
Hawaii PT License is required promptly upon hire.
