Job Summary: The Sonographer is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic exams and procedures in the Ultrasound department in an efficient manner according to the physician’s orders. The Sonographer collaborates effectively with patients and physicians while maintaining cooperative relationships with interdepartmental personnel.

Job Duties:

• Complete studies in a timely and efficient manner while utilizing downtime to assist colleagues as needed.
• Ensure exam charges and the five-day late list are checked daily for the ultrasound department.
• Organize workload during high-volume periods to expedite patient care and communicate pending exams and pertinent information to other technologists.
• Assist physicians in performing radiology procedures.
• Foster positive relationships within the department and address concerns with supervisors, presenting the department positively to other staff members.
• Maintain supplies at a minimum inventory level and develop new methods of supply utilization.
• Handle equipment safely and appropriately, following guidelines and policies. Maintain a clean work area and adhere to equipment cleaning policies.
• Respond to call back within an acceptable timeframe when on-call and arrive in the department promptly.
• Willingly assist with procedures in any area of radiology when needed and check with coworkers during downtime for opportunities to provide assistance.
• Adhere to attendance and punctuality policies.
• Follow dress code and appearance policies.
• Participate in required hospital and department in-services and meetings.
• Comply with safety and infection control policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Current Equipment:

• 3 Philips CVX Epiq machines
• 1 Philips Ellite Epiq machine
• Vasculab ABI machine

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Registered Echo/Vascular Sonographer certification.
• Ability to perform Echocardiograms with Definity Contrast.
• Proficient in performing Echo and Vascular studies including TTE Echocardiograms, TEE, stress echo, venous reflux exams, venous dopplers, carotid doppler, arterial doppler, ABI, pericardiocentesis, thrombin injections, and vein mapping exams.
• Skilled in starting IVs.
• Experience with MediTech.

Certifications Required:

• ARDMS certification
• BLS (AHA) certification
