Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Neuro Intermediate Care Unit. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to work within a team, meet behavioral expectations in interactions with patients and staff, and maintain adherence to our call-off policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Titrate LEVO as required.
- Provide specialized care for neuro and medical intermediate patients.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret dysrhythmias, and manage cardiac emergencies.
- Administer IV insulin and manage titration of insulin drips.
- Conduct feeding tube care and management.
- Perform Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI) and manage pre/post hemodialysis patients.
- Administer blood products and manage central and peripheral lines.
- Implement heparin protocols, manage PCA, and utilize thrombolytic agents.
- Provide care for patients undergoing craniotomy, CVA, and other neurological procedures.
- Assist with tracheostomy care and ventilated patient management.
- Follow isolation precautions and provide wound care as necessary.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, with a preference for neuro experience.
- Experience as a first-time traveler is not accepted; local candidates may apply.
- Eligible candidates must have EPIC experience.
- Certification in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS is required.
- Comprehensive skills in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and medication administration.
- Experience with surgical drains and managing patients post-neurosurgery is preferred.
- Additional certifications such as CCRN, TNCC, and CPI are a plus.
Schedule
This position requires 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15. The average nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with a maximum daily census of 24 patients. Candidates are required to work a minimum of 3 weekend shifts every six weeks.
Unit Orientation
New hires will undergo a 32-hour orientation, which includes an 8-hour computer class and two shifts on the unit following initial hospital orientation.
Uniform
Scrubs are not provided; a combination of navy blue and white is required.
