Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room/Surgery demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of clinical nursing. This role provides both routine and complex care while contributing to long-term patient care plans. The RN will develop the capability to handle various clinical contingencies and appropriately delegate tasks to enhance patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Fulfill the expectations of applicable nursing competencies as a leader in different capacities.
• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address the complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families in accordance with their practice level.
• Administer medications and treatments per established protocols; monitor for side effects and assess the effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Document patient histories, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs of patients and families and provide appropriate education; identify issues and resources for support.

Job Requirements:

Education & Skills:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required (American Heart Association only).
• Registered Nurse License in the state of Texas or compact license is required.

Work Schedule:

Multiple shifts are available.
