Position Overview

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) plays a crucial role in providing respiratory care to patients across various departments. As a member of the respiratory therapy team, the RRT is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and supporting critical care environments.

Shift Details

• Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Weekend Hours: 36 (unless otherwise specified)
• Call Requirements: Yes, two hours for the oncoming shift

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy treatments to patients in various settings, including NICU, PICU, acute care pediatrics, emergency department, and adult acute and critical care.
• Utilize a variety of advanced respiratory equipment to deliver care effectively.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient management and outcomes.
• Participate in patient education and support initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in respiratory therapy, preferably in a tertiary teaching hospital or level 1 trauma center.
• Required Certifications:
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) for NICU patients
  • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) certification required
• Experience with a variety of patient demographics and conditions, including but not limited to cardiothoracic care.

Unit Information

• Dynamic environment covering various departments with a team of 14-16 RRTs.
• Patient Ratios: Acute care 1:25, Critical care 1:8.
• Equipment experience required:
  • Drager V500 and VN500
  • Hamilton T1 and C1
  • Respironics V30, V60, Trilogy line
  • Airvo, Vapotherm
• Familiarity with EMR systems, specifically EPIC.
