Position Summary
The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures on patients using advanced technical equipment. This role requires the administration of contrast materials as needed and adherence to established protocols while ensuring patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the scan room and ensure the patient is ready for examination.
- Draw up IV contrast when necessary, administer oral contrast as needed, and conduct warm-up procedures on equipment.
- Accurately enter patient data and scan parameters; review patient history and previous exams to confirm appropriateness of the procedure.
- Interview patients to screen for contraindications and explain the MRI process, addressing any questions they may have.
- Transport patients to the exam room, assist in positioning them correctly for the exam, and verify any allergies that may affect the procedure.
- Inject appropriate IV contrast and conduct the scan with attention to positioning; remain alert for the need for additional imaging slices or adjustments.
- Ensure proper orientation marking of the patient and enter images in the correct order using the equipment's keypad.
- Prepare records for the radiologist, ensuring all clinical information is complete and images are accurately ordered.
Work Schedule
This position requires five 8-hour shifts, totaling a 40-hour workweek. Technologists are expected to fulfill one weekend per month from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. There is no on-call requirement associated with this role.
Qualifications
- Experience in MRI technology is required.
- Proficiency with Siemens MRI equipment is essential.
- Current MRI Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is mandatory.
- Must possess a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Documented work history and skills checklist relevant to MRI technology must be provided.
- Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years are required.
