Critical Care Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit: Critical Care Float Pool

Shift: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM

Job Description:

The Critical Care Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients across various units within the hospital. This position requires flexibility, as the nurse may be floated to multiple departments including the Emergency Department (holds), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), and Medical Surgical (MS) units. On the MS unit, the nurse may be assigned up to 6-7 patients.

Common Patient Diagnoses:

  • Neurological and Medical Conditions - Strokes, Sepsis, Altered Mental Status (AMS)
  • Neuro Intervention - Transcarotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR)
  • Respiratory Failure
  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
  • Post-St-elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) care
  • Cardiovascular Surgical Patients - Cardiogenic Shock, Aortic Aneurysm Repair (AAA), Trauma, Major Post-operative Surgery

Specialty Equipment:

  • Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
  • Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
  • Ventriculostomy
  • Intracranial Pressure (ICP) Monitoring
  • Targeted Temperature Management (TTM)

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an ICU setting.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York at the time of submission.
  • Must provide NURSYS report and verification of all active RN licenses.
  • Availability for float assignments is essential.

Additional Information:

  • Scratch color for scrubs: Navy Blue
  • Floating to different units is a requirement of this position.
  • Block scheduling is not guaranteed.
