The Clinical Nurse plays a vital role in providing competent clinical nursing care in a hospital setting, adhering to professional standards and practices. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process.

Essential Duties

• Education:
  • Identifies and addresses personal learning needs.
  • Attends educational programs as needed.
  • Utilizes relevant patient education materials.
  • Assesses the readiness to learn of patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Evaluates the developmental level of patients and factors impacting their learning abilities.
• Evaluation of Care:
  • Identifies expected patient outcomes.
  • Seeks guidance for the revision of care plans as necessary.
  • Engages with the interdisciplinary team to evaluate patient care.
  • Communicates essential information to ensure continuity of care.
• Implementation:
  • Demonstrates competence in managing patients with complex health issues, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
  • Conducts bedside point of care testing as required.
  • Observes organizational nursing standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Organizes and prioritizes patient care based on individual needs.
  • Consults with appropriate resources timely for complex care issues or high-risk discharge planning.
• Leadership:
  • Contributes to personal professional growth through goal setting.
  • Achieves goals within the agreed timeframe or renegotiates as necessary.
  • Promotes effective interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Participates in the achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities.
  • Utilizes communication systems effectively.

• Patient Assessment:

  • Builds relationships with families to empower advocacy for patients.
• Planning:
  • Collaborates with patients and families to update care plans.
  • Utilizes multidisciplinary resources in care planning.
  • Employs comprehensive communication for planning purposes.
  • Addresses cultural and ethnic issues in patient care planning.
  • Prioritizes tasks effectively for patients with complex needs.
• Research:
  • Engages in reading professional journals relevant to nursing practice.
  • Shares ideas and questions with the team for broader assessment.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience.

Education

• Required Education: Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited nursing school.
• Preferred Education: BSN or MSN from an accredited nursing school.

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Registered Nurse License in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC).

Schedule Details

Shifts are typically 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Candidates should be prepared to work with
