Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Obtain two points of patient identification, ensure proper patient preparation, and gather relevant patient history.
• Review patient charts to gather pertinent clinical history and test results to ensure accurate interpretation of ultrasound examinations.
• Explain the examination process to patients with consideration for their physical and emotional needs, while upholding ethical standards such as patient confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Provide patient care within the scope of licensure and training, utilizing universal precaution techniques and safety protocols specific to patient status.
• Be proficient in the operation of all equipment required during the workday and promptly notify appropriate personnel of any equipment malfunctions or repair needs.
• Rotate through various departments and off-site locations as necessary; collaborate with all personnel to foster a harmonious work environment.
• Maintain effective communication and relationships with departmental staff and other hospital personnel.
• Complete necessary paperwork, as well as PACS and RIS entries for each patient examination.
• Prepare equipment, rooms, and supplies for daily patient use, ensuring readiness and compliance with standards.
• Stay informed about developments and trends in imaging techniques, procedures, and equipment; participate in educational programs to maintain compliance with state and national continuing education requirements.
• Transport and transfer patients using established departmental procedures.
• Exercise independent judgment and initiative when performing patient exams in various circumstances.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must have graduated from an AMA accredited Ultrasound Program with a minimum of 12 months of full-time clinical ultrasound experience.
• Must meet the requirements and successfully complete ARDMS certification (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers).
• Possession of a current BLS certification is required.

Unit Description

Shifts are Monday through Friday from 4:30 PM to 12:30 AM.
