Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Essential Duties

• Education:
  • Identifies and meets personal learning needs.
  • Attends educational programs relevant to identified needs.
  • Utilizes patient education materials tailored to the patient population.
  • Assesses patient, family, and caregiver readiness to learn.
  • Evaluates developmental levels and factors influencing learning ability.
• Evaluation of Care:
  • Identifies expected patient outcomes.
  • Seeks guidance for the revision of care plans as needed.
  • Engages in interdisciplinary discussions to evaluate patient care.
  • Communicates relevant information to ensure continuity of care.
• Implementation:
  • Demonstrates competence in addressing the complex needs of patients.
  • Performs bedside point-of-care testing, as necessary.
  • Adheres to healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Organizes and prioritizes care based on patient and family needs.
  • Consults timely with appropriate resources for complex care issues.
• Leadership:
  • Develops goals to promote professional growth.
  • Aims to achieve goals within the identified time frame.
  • Facilitates intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Participates in the development of unit goals and performance improvement.
  • Utilizes effective communication systems.

• Patient Assessment:

  • Synthesizes assessment data effectively for communication.
  • Assesses and anticipates individual patient and family discharge needs.
  • Establishes relationships that empower families to advocate for patient needs.
• Planning:
  • Collaborates with the patient and family to create or update care plans.
  • Utilizes multidisciplinary resources in the planning process.
  • Employs comprehensive communication methods to convey planning efforts.
  • Identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic considerations in patient care planning.
  • Demonstrates effective task prioritization for patients with complex needs.
• Research:
  • Engages with current nursing journals to enhance practice.
  • Presents ideas and questions to the team for collaborative assessment.

Skills

Required Skills & Experience:

• One (1) year of nursing experience.

Education

Required Education:

• Nursing Diploma; OR
• ADN or ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.

Preferred Education:

• BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.

Certifications & Licensure
