Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) with a specialty in Outpatient and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) to provide high-quality nursing care to surgical and procedure patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for patient admissions and discharges, conducting nursing assessments, and delivering both Phase I and Phase II postoperative care.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough nursing admission assessments for surgical patients.
• Provide Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia care.
• Administer IV therapy and perform IV starts.
• Educate patients on postoperative care and recovery procedures.
• Collaborate effectively with nursing and physician colleagues to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, including pre-operative tasks.
• Manage a patient ratio of 1:8 in an outpatient setting, serving up to 17 patients per day.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Same Day Surgery required.
• Experience in a rural or outpatient facility is essential.
• Proven experience in admitting and discharging patients.
• In-depth knowledge of Phase I and II post-anesthesia care.
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR system is required.
• Travel experience is highly preferred.
• Must possess a valid RN license, BLS, and ACLS certifications.
• Candidates must have reliable transportation, as public transport is not available in the area.

Schedule Requirements

• Work schedule is from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with call responsibilities.
• Availability for on-call shifts for 2-3 days per week is required.
• Must be able to take call two weekends per month.
• Must work during major holidays, including Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Additional Information

Orientation will be provided for 8 hours in a non-billable format. This role requires strong multitasking abilities and excellent customer service skills. A detailed profile with work history and skills checklist is necessary for consideration.
