Shift Information

Day shift: 0615-1845, 3 days per week.

Position Summary

An experienced Medical Surgical Registered Nurse is required to provide observation and inpatient care to patients within the Medical Surgical Unit. The responsibilities include assessing and prioritizing patient care, administering nursing procedures, monitoring patient conditions, and ensuring accurate documentation to support continuity of care and prevent readmissions.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of Medical Surgical or Emergency Room experience.
• Previous travel nursing experience is required.
• Cerner Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience is mandatory.
• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
• Current Colorado or Compact Registered Nurse license.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with electronic health records.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide patient care within the RN scope of practice based on provider orders.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop care plans.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and report abnormal findings.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and other treatments accurately and in a timely manner.
• Document patient interactions thoroughly in the electronic health record.
• Utilize Care Compass for organizing assessments and documenting care tasks.
• Perform age-specific nursing interventions and provide patient education.
• Collaborate with providers and other health professionals for interdisciplinary care.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold patient rights and dignity.
• Serve as a mentor to nursing staff to foster continuous learning.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This role is performed in a hospital setting with potential exposure to stressful situations, interruptions, and various environmental factors. The position requires the ability to perform heavy work, including lifting, carrying, standing, and assisting patients. There may also be exposure to bodily fluids, chemical hazards, and physical strain associated with patient care.

Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, sound judgment, adaptability, and the ability to work independently in a high-pressure environment. Compliance with all facility policies, safety protocols, and departmental standards is essential. Holiday coverage may be required.
