Job Description

This position involves providing outpatient Physical Therapy services focused on patient evaluations and treatments impacting functional abilities. The role includes adhering to professional standards, maintaining confidentiality, and embodying the principles of service excellence.

Position Overview

Physical therapists are responsible for patient assessments and evaluations, establishing care plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions across diverse age groups and diagnoses. Clinical decision-making involves collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient rehabilitation outcomes. Responsibilities also include documentation of treatment plans and engagement in program development and quality improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assessment and Treatment (70%): Conduct evaluations, develop treatment plans, implement therapies, and supervise the implementation of care based on patient responses. Engage in team meetings to discuss patient care and collaborate on equipment needs for successful discharges. Document findings, treatment plans, and recommendations according to established protocols.
• Administration and Operations (20%): Support administrative functions, maintain patient records, and assist in the acquisition of medical equipment. Ensure adequate supply levels and stay informed about billing procedures relevant to various payers.
• Education (5%): Provide educational support to staff and patients regarding therapeutic interventions. Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the continuous education of both staff and patients through presentations and in-service training.
• Other Duties (5%): Perform additional related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program or a Baccalaureate level degree with relevant continuing education and experience.
• Active Physical Therapist license in the state of Alaska.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Avalid Driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Understanding of musculoskeletal physiology, treatment planning, and implementation techniques for various patient populations.
• Proficiency in using adaptive devices and treatment techniques to facilitate patient rehabilitation.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with diverse audiences.
• Competency in using information technology and software applications relevant to patient care and documentation.
• Ability to maintain a safe work environment and exercise sound judgment in clinical practices.

Working Conditions

This role may require working in confined spaces, managing a demanding pace, and interacting with a variety of individuals. Therapists must adhere to safety protocols and use protective equipment as necessary. Duties may involve lifting and physically demanding movements, requiring good body mechanics. Services could be provided in various settings, including community events and during off-site travel.
