• General Certifications (BLS/BCLS)
• ACLS, PALS, TNCC required; ATCN preferred
• Wisconsin Registered Nursing license or active Compact Licensure

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating the nursing care of patients in the Emergency Department across all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric, addressing various health concerns from illness to wellness. This role involves performing direct patient care and collaborating with multiple disciplines and ancillary services to provide optimal care.

Essential Job Duties

• Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care across all levels.
• Conduct age-appropriate assessments and deliver safe, effective care.
• Perform triage using the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) 5-level process.
• Document care in a medically and legally acceptable manner, reflecting all nursing care and patient responses.
• Collaborate with providers, peers, and ancillary departments to ensure efficient and cost-effective patient care.
• Manage the care requirements of multiple patients, prioritizing needs for timely and high-quality service.
• Communicate patient needs effectively, advocating on their behalf through appropriate channels.
• Engage in personal professional development by completing required education and training.
• Assess patient and family understanding, addressing discharge needs.
• Monitor life support systems and manage complex treatments, including medication administration and emergency protocols.
• Respond to crisis situations with calm, directing others as needed and using delegation effectively.
• Comply with legal consent, transfer protocols, and other regulations to uphold patient rights.
• Maintain equipment and supplies, ensuring operational readiness at shift end.
• Participate in educational experiences for emergency providers and students.
• Exhibit proficiency in computerized patient care documentation.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience preferred.
