Position Summary

The Registered Nurse position is responsible for coordinating nursing care for patients in the Emergency Department across all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric. The RN will provide direct care to patients who may be experiencing a range of medical conditions and will collaborate with various healthcare disciplines to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Essential Job Duties

• Plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive patient care.
• Conduct age-appropriate assessments, ensuring safe and effective care for all patients.
• Perform triage based on the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) guidelines.
• Document care and patient responses accurately and in compliance with legal standards.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers, peers, and ancillary departments to facilitate efficient patient care.
• Prioritize and coordinate care for multiple patients to ensure timely and quality treatment.
• Effectively communicate patient needs and advocate for patients within the healthcare team.
• Engage in continuous professional development and complete required training and education.
• Assess patient and family education and discharge needs, providing appropriate resources.
• Monitor life support and medical equipment while performing necessary treatments and procedures.
• Respond to emergency situations in a calm and effective manner, delegating tasks as required.
• Maintain equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness for patient care.
• Offer educational opportunities for pre-hospital emergency providers and students.
• Demonstrate proficiency in computerized documentation of patient care activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Two-year degree in nursing required; four-year degree preferred.
• Must hold and maintain a valid Registered Nursing license in Wisconsin or active Compact Licensure.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC required; ATCN preferred.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Less than 1 year of relevant work experience is acceptable.
