Job Overview

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) for float pool positions within a dynamic medical-surgical setting. This role involves supporting various medical-surgical units specializing in neurology, cardiac care, bariatrics, general medicine, general surgery, gynecology, urology, orthopedic procedures, oncology, and transplant services. Nurses will provide comprehensive care to a diverse group of patients in a 600-bed facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients across 15 medical-surgical units.
• Manage patient ratios of 4:1 on days and 6:1 on nights.
• Utilize unit-specific procedures, including 12 lead EKGs, administration of medications via intravenous (IV) lines, blood transfusions, and telemetry monitoring.
• Administer nebulizers, with respiratory therapists managing ventilators.
• Adapt to various unit assignments, often receiving notifications of placements shortly before shifts.
• Adhere to mandatory scheduling requirements, including working every other weekend and on holidays.
• Participate in an orientation program held weekly, typically each Monday except holidays.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Prior travel nursing experience is a plus.
• Certifications in CPR and ACLS are mandatory.
• Basic familiarity with computers and the ability to navigate web-based applications.
• Experience with electronic health records, particularly Epic, is required.
• Preferred experience in a teaching hospital setting and in specialty areas relevant to the position.
• Level I trauma experience is highly desirable.

Schedule and Work Environment

The position involves a combination of 8 and 12-hour shifts, with rotations that may include days, evenings, and nights. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, as assignments may change based on unit needs within the organization. Nurses will be expected to maintain consistent availability and comply with time-off requests at the time of submission.

Additional Information

Nurses are expected to wear any color scrubs and should be aware that parking fees may apply if working day shifts. Public transportation options are available for commuting.
