Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) to join our float pool team. This role involves supporting multiple medical surgical units in a facility with a diverse patient population. The position requires flexibility with scheduling, including rotating day and night shifts and working every other weekend and holidays.

Position Details

• Shift Details: Combination of 8 and 12-hour shifts
• Weekly Schedule: Expectation of one 12-hour shift and three 8-hour shifts in each 4-week period. Some assignments may be given as late as 2 hours before a shift.
• Rotation: Ability to rotate among units, generally maintaining a consistent schedule with minimal interruptions.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer medications, including nebulizers, under the supervision of licensed respiratory therapists.
• Perform unit-specific procedures such as 12-lead EKGs, administering lasix continuous infusions, and monitoring telemetry.
• Support patient care across 15 medical surgical units, specializing in areas such as neurology, cardiology, bariatrics, general medicine, and oncology.
• Maintain an average patient ratio of 4:1 on day shifts and 6:1 on night shifts.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required at the time of submission.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Prior travel nursing experience is preferred.
• CPR certification from AHA and ACLS certification from AHA required.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with web-based applications are necessary.
• Experience with the Epic electronic health record system is required.
• Experience in a teaching hospital and specialty expertise is preferred, with Level I trauma experience required.

Orientation and Availability

Orientation for new hires is conducted weekly, typically on Mondays, excluding holidays. Please provide your availability for interview scheduling upon application.
