Cath Lab Technologist

Minimum Experience

2 years of experience required. First-time travelers are not accepted.

Patient Population

Adults to Geriatrics

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• RCIS, RCES, or ARRT CV

General Skills and Work Setting Requirements

Key patient diagnoses include:

• Diagnostic catheterization
• PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Interventions)
• Orbital atherectomy
• IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump)
• Impella
• Device implants
• No EP studies or ablations

Obtaining vital signs, rhythm interpretation, and familiarity with sinus node rhythms are required. Experience with pacemakers is preferred.

Experience with the following equipment is mandatory:

• GE Discovery
• IABP
• Impella
• CSI (Coronary Sinus Intervention)

Unit Information

The Cath Lab operates with a ratio of 3 rooms and 5 beds, maintaining an average daily census of 8-10 patients.

Unit systems in use include:

• Epic (required)
• Pyxis
• SBAR
• Merge (preferred)

Scrub colors will be provided by the facility.

Work Schedule

Maximum requested time off is 7 days. Every other weekend is required, unless specified otherwise.

12-15 on-call days are expected per month, including 2 weekend days (Saturday/Sunday) and late stays as needed.

Holiday Requirements

Travellers are expected to work during major holidays as follows:

• One major holiday: Work required
• Two major holidays: Work required for both
• Three major holidays: Work required for two of the holidays

The list of major holidays includes:

• Memorial Day
• Independence Day
• Labor Day
• Thanksgiving/Black Friday
• Christmas Eve/Christmas Day
• New Year's Eve/New Year's Day

Compliance

Full compliance is required to start on time. Non-compliance may delay the start by 2 weeks due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule.

Clinical Screen

Candidates will undergo a clinical review to assess their fit for the position. If clinical standards are met and the candidate is within guidelines, they will be forwarded to the manager for final decisions. Clinical screens will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Local Candidates

Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as non-local candidates.

Non-Billable Orientation Hours

The number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours will be determined by the contract length, with examples as follows:

• 8 hours for an 8-week assignment
• 19 hours for a 19-week assignment
