Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with expertise in Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing. Join our team and contribute to providing exceptional patient care in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients with a variety of diagnoses, including dementia, diabetes, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, and others.
• Administer and manage medications, including IV insulin protocols and blood products.
• Perform central line blood draws, phlebotomy, and management of peripheral and PICC lines.
• Oversee patient care processes such as colostomy care, feeding tube management, and pre/post hemodialysis management.
• Utilize Rapid Response Teams effectively and interpret dysrhythmias appropriately.
• Implement isolation precautions and maintain wound care as necessary.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a Medical/Surgical or Telemetry setting.
• Experience with telemetry remote monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias.
• Proficient in starting IVs, managing chest tubes, and providing non-invasive airway management.
• Valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience in MS/Tele and telemetry unit monitoring.
• Familiarity with accessing ports, managing insulin therapy, and interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs).
• Knowledge of EPIC electronic health record system.

Position Details

• Target patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:5-6
• Shifts: 12-hour night shifts; options for 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Contract duration: 13-26 weeks accepted.
• Floating between units may be required.
• Weekend shifts: 12-16 hours per contract.
• Orientation: 24 hours unit-specific orientation followed by hospital orientation during the first week.

Additional Information

• Must pass EKG Testing prior to the start of the contract.
• Contract staff may be assigned to work on Storm or Hurricane Teams and may be expected to report during catastrophic events or disasters.
• Uniform: Navy and white scrubs required.
