Job Description

This position works within a hospital, clinic, or long-term care facility and is primarily responsible for directing an activity program to meet the patients’/residents’ social, recreational, physical, educational, and spiritual needs through meaningful activities. The activity programs are designed to help patients/residents function and maintain their dignity and mental and physical capacity for as long as possible. Additionally, these programs aim to enhance patients’/residents’ feelings of usefulness, self-confidence, self-respect, and empowerment.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate a comprehensive activity program that supports the patients’/residents’ various needs.
• Conduct assessments and develop tailored programs based on individual needs.
• Implement performance improvement initiatives to enhance program effectiveness.
• Develop and monitor the activity program budget.
• Manage personnel within the activity department and provide training programs as necessary.
• Work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Requirements

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an Activities Coordinator.
• Knowledge of human anatomy and administrative practices related to patient/resident activity programs.
• Ability to effectively read, write, speak, and communicate in English.
• Experience in supervising and directing the work of subordinates.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Workers required.
• Valid Driver’s License required.

Shift Information

Full-time position with coverage required on holidays.
