Medical/Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Description

The unit is a 32-bed Ortho/Neuro Med/Surg unit that admits all other medical overflow patients. This unit is divided into two sections with 16 beds each. As a part of this multidisciplinary team, you will be involved in providing comprehensive care to a diverse patient population.

Position Requirements

• Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a single location and 2 years as a traveler.
• Census: 32 total beds.
• Floating Requirement: Travelers may be required to float to applicable units upon request.
• Rotating Shifts: While night positions do not rotate, day rotators may be shifted among various day and evening shifts as needed.

Skill Sets Required

• Med/Surg RN with neuro assessment skills
• Telemetry competency, including the ability to interpret telemetric strips

Clinician to Patient Ratio

• Day and Evening Shifts: 1:4, may increase to 1:5
• Night Shift: 1:5 or 1:6

Patient Population

The patient demographic includes scheduled elective orthopedic and neuro/surgical patients, as well as fractures, neuro patients, and medical overflow patients.

Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System

The EMR used for charting is EPIC.

Certifications Required

• Current RN License in Massachusetts
• AHA BLS Certification
• ACLS Certification (preferred)
