Job Description
We are seeking a qualified IMCU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality care to patients in an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) setting, managing complex medical conditions and assisting with recovery.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)
- Shift: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM (Block scheduling is not guaranteed)
- Floating: Required
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Common Diagnoses
The IMCU typically manages patients with the following conditions:
- Neurological Disorders
- Cardiac Issues
- Trauma Cases
- Respiratory Conditions (e.g., COPD, DKA, Sepsis)
- Myocardial Infarction (MI)
- Post-operative Recovery
Equipment Used
Specialized equipment utilized in the unit includes:
- Temp Pacemaker
- Chest Tubes
- Arterial Lines
- Bipap Devices
- Neptune Vapo
Patient Demographics
The IMCU primarily serves adult patients aged 18 and older, accommodating a total of 64 beds with 15 designated for neuro patients. Nurses in this unit will work closely with a variety of specialties.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in IMCU/PCU
- Active NY RN License & all other RN licenses
- Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience with EMR, specifically EPIC, is mandatory
