Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This position involves caring for a diverse patient population ranging from infants to geriatric patients, displaying readiness to manage a variety of complex diagnoses across all systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in the emergency department.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on evidence-based practice.
• Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Provide education and support to patients and families regarding health management.
• Participate in departmental initiatives aimed at improving quality of care.
• Maintain a calm and efficient environment in high-pressure situations.

Work Schedule

This position requires rotating night and evening shifts. The general hours of operation include:

• Night Shift: 19:00 - 07:30
• Evening Shift: 15:00 - 03:30

Weekend work is required every other weekend, and holiday shifts are also part of the schedule as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current RN license in the state of Maryland.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
• Completion of NIH Stroke Scale and CPI trainings during onboarding.
• New graduates with ER experience may apply; two years of experience in emergency care preferred.

Patient Care Responsibilities

The patient ratio typically ranges from 1:4, potentially increasing to 1:5 for patients with lower acuity. The position requires flexibility to float within the specialty as well as to our sister emergency department facilities as necessary.
