Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in emergency nursing and be prepared to deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Emergency Room.
• Assess patients, obtain vital signs, and document findings accurately.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Assist in the triage process as needed, ensuring timely care for emergency cases.
• Handle a variety of cases, including traumas, medical emergencies, and critical situations.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and procedures, as well as legal and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan Nursing License (must have license in hand).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency nursing.
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), TNCC.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Unit Information

• Emergency Room Details:
• Trauma Level: IV.
• Number of Beds: 14, including 2 trauma bays.
• Average Daily Patient Volume: 40-60 patients.
• Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:3-4 during the day; 1:2 after 3 AM.
• Additional Facilities:
• Fast Track available with 3 designated rooms.
• 24/7 in-house Respiratory Therapy.
• Phlebotomy services available 24/7.
• Triage Process: Travelers can participate after orientation to policies and procedures.
• Security: Local police and internal code backup available; no dedicated in-house security.

Shift Details

This position requires 12-hour shifts with start times at 3 PM or 7 PM. Weekend and holiday shifts are expected, typically requiring every other weekend and holiday coverage.

Dress Code

Scrubs must be clean and professional, in any solid color.

Orientation

Includes computer-based training followed by two days of floor orientation, ensuring familiarity with unit policies and procedures.
