Position Summary:

The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner responsible for coordinating and implementing patient care tailored to the specific age of the patient population served on assigned units. The role focuses on ensuring quality care is delivered efficiently and safely, in alignment with the organization's standards and objectives. The Registered Nurse is expected to demonstrate professionalism by treating patients, staff, and families with respect and consideration.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct initial assessments and establish patient care priorities based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Systematically re-assess patients to identify progress and trends requiring intervention.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on measurable outcomes within established time frames.
• Make informed nursing decisions and modify care plans based on continuous evaluations.
• Participate in health education and discharge planning for patients and their significant others.
• Implement timely interventions based on patient needs and document appropriately.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the care plan and make necessary adjustments.
• Perform various Point of Care testing procedures as required.

Staff Responsibilities:

• Utilize effective communication strategies to achieve intended outcomes.
• Delegate work assignments to maintain support activities for patient care.
• Coordinate team assignments and adjust based on unit needs while ensuring quality and completeness in care tasks.
• Adhere to the appropriate chain of command for issue resolution.
• Assist in the orientation of new staff and students within the unit.
• Act as a resource for visitors, physicians, and staff, providing courteous assistance.
• Promote a positive work environment by demonstrating professionalism and support.
• Engage in the unit's growth and development to enhance organizational performance.
• Collaborate with colleagues to achieve departmental and organizational goals.

• Demonstrate behaviors that enhance patient and customer satisfaction, respecting their rights and confidentiality.

Requirements:

Education:

• Graduation from an accredited program for Registered Nursing.

Certifications/Licenses:

• Current New Mexico RN license or a current compact state license.
• BLS Certification via AHA.
• ACLS Certification via AHA.

Skills:

• Current knowledge and skills relevant to the age/type of patient population served.
• Understanding and sensitivity to patient rights in care delivery.
• Effective communication skills appropriate to the developmental age of patients.

Work Schedule:

This position requires availability from 7AM to 5PM.
