Job Summary

The competent Nurse in a clinical setting practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. This role involves providing both routine and complex care while focusing on long-range goals and contingency management. The Nurse is responsible for making appropriate assignments and delegating tasks to other care providers to effectively manage the clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of the applicable competencies in self-leadership and leadership of others.
• Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to their level of practice.
• Administers medications and treatments following appropriate protocols, while monitoring for side effects and overall effectiveness.
• Documents patient histories, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assesses learning needs and offers education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers, identifying relevant issues and resources.

Requirements

Education & Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience

• One year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

• BLS certification from AHA required.
• ACLS certification from AHA required.
• Active RN License in the state of employment or compact.

Position Requirements

• Newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of employment.
• New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member, with initial onboarding requirements validated through successful completion of designated competency validations.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is necessary.

Work Schedule

Nights: 7 PM - 7 AM

Additional Information

• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
• On-call requirement: None.
• Nurse to patient ratio: Typically 5:1, but can be 6:1 on occasion.
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system used: Epic.
• Dress code: Ceil blue scrubs.
