Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) specialty will provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic healthcare environment. The role involves working closely with healthcare professionals to manage patient care duties on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Med Surg unit.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including vital signs and symptoms, and implement care plans accordingly.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support optimal patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and their families on health management and care processes.
• Document all patient care activities accurately and appropriately in the medical records.

Work Schedule

This position requires 12-hour day shifts, totaling 48 hours over a two-week period. Shift flexibility and the ability to work every other weekend and holidays are essential.

Patient Care Information

• Unit Size: 20 to 34 beds, depending on unit.
• Patient Ratio: 1:6, typically.
• Travelers will be required to float to any Med Surg unit as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of current Medical-Surgical experience.
• Telemetry experience is required.
• Completion of a Basic Dysrhythmia course is strongly required.
• Experience with Meditech Expanse is highly preferred.
• Valid Massachusetts RN license must be in hand at the time of application.
• Certification in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS is mandatory at the time of submission.
• Applicants must have a personal vehicle.

Additional Requirements

All scheduling requests must be clearly stated at the time of application, as adjustments cannot be made post-offer or during the interview process. Travelers residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be considered for this position.

The dress code consists of personal scrubs of any color, and an orientation period of 8 hours is non-billable.
