Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Essential Duties:

• Education:
  • Identifies and meets personal learning needs.
  • Attends educational programs based on identified needs.
  • Utilizes patient education materials relevant to the patient population.
  • Assesses the readiness to learn of the patient, family, and caregivers.
  • Evaluates the developmental level of patients and factors affecting their ability to learn.
• Evaluation of Care:
  • Identifies expected patient outcomes.
  • Seeks guidance as needed in revising plans of care.
  • Participates in discussions with interdisciplinary team members regarding patient care evaluation.
  • Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
• Implementation:
  • Demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex issues, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.
  • Performs bedside point of care testing as required for the patient care plan.
  • Utilizes healthcare organization standards, policies, and procedures in delivering care.
  • Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs.
  • Consults appropriate resources regarding complex care issues and discharge planning.
• Leadership:
  • Develops goals to promote professional growth.
  • Achieves goals and objectives within the identified timeframe.
  • Facilitates intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Participates in unit goal development and performance improvement activities.
  • Effectively uses communication systems.
  • Promotes cost-effective care practices.

• Patient Assessment:
  • Recognizes data from complex situations to determine care priorities.
  • Integrates assessment data before communicating with others.
  • Anticipates discharge needs of patients and families.
  • Develops relationships with families to empower advocacy for the patient.
• Planning:
  • Collaborates with patients and families to prepare or update care plans.
  • Utilizes multidisciplinary resources in planning care.
  • Employs effective communication methods to convey planning.
  • Identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic issues in patient care planning.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks for complex patient needs.
• Research:
  • Engages with relevant journals to identify applicable studies or articles.
  • Brings forward ideas and questions for group assessment.

Qualifications:

• Required Skills & Experience:
  • One (1) year of nursing experience.
• Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Cardiac Cath Lab experience highly preferred.
  • Acute Cardiac Care experience accepted.
  • Pre and post procedure experience optional.
  • Must possess Epic experience.

Education:

• Required Education:
  • Nursing Diploma or
  • ADN or ASN from an accredited
