We are seeking a dedicated X-Ray Technologist to join our healthcare team. This position involves providing healthcare services by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. The technologist will perform radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by licensed practitioners, while exercising professional judgment and maintaining medical ethics.

Essential Job Functions

• Perform diagnostic radiography procedures.
• Corroborate patient clinical history with procedures, ensuring documentation is accurate and available for licensed practitioner use.
• Prepare patients for procedures; provide instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
• Select and operate radiography equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results.
• Position patients and equipment to best demonstrate anatomic areas of interest, respecting patient comfort and abilities.
• Immobilize patients as required for appropriate examinations.
• Determine radiographic technique exposure factors, minimizing exposure to patients and others.
• Evaluate images for technical quality, ensuring proper identification is recorded.
• Verify informed consent for interventional procedures and assist licensed practitioners as needed.
• Practice aseptic techniques as necessary.
• Assume responsibility for meeting the physical and emotional needs of patients during procedures.
• Prepare, identify, and/or administer contrast media and/or medications as prescribed by licensed practitioners, in accordance with state statutes and institutional policies.
• Support the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
• Participate in required education programs as applicable to the position.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

• Required: Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Preferred: N/A

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations:

• Required: OBMI and ARRT registered Radiologic Technologist. Current BLS certification. CRASE training (if travel assignment exceeds six months).
• Preferred: N/A

Experience:

• Required: None.
• Preferred: Minimum of 2 years experience.

Physical Requirements

This position requires specific physical and sensory functions essential for successful performance:

• Sufficient auditory ability to detect and respond to various sounds, including patient alarms and verbal communication.
• Clear and effective communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Visual acuity for observing patient conditions, reading documentation, and distinguishing colors for clinical purposes.
• Tactile perception for assessing physical characteristics of patients.
• Motor coordination for operating medical equipment and performing fine motor tasks.
• Ability to engage in occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching to assist patients or access equipment.
• Should be capable of continuous walking and standing throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and to manage frequent pushing, pulling, and repositioning of patients or objects, with team assistance for individuals over 100 pounds.
• Capability of prolonged sitting as needed.

Working Conditions

This position is primarily performed in an indoor healthcare environment. While protected from outdoor elements, the work setting may experience variable indoor temperatures and requires adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The role may involve exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and medical equipment. Staff must be prepared to respond quickly to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment, including high-pressure or emergency situations, while managing multiple simultaneous demands and variable noise levels.
